FAQ

General questions

There is no pain during the surgery, and most patients report only mild pain afterward. Discomfort is easily controlled with pain medications.
Yes, a growing number of men are opting for nasal surgery, facelifts and other procedures to help them look and feel their best.
A procedure that corrects a functional problem as well may be covered. Consult your insurance company ahead of time.
If you are in good health, plastic surgery may be a realistic option for you. We would evaluate your problem and your general health, before deciding whether you are a candidate for surgery.
Plastic surgery procedures are surprisingly affordable. We will be glad to help you work out an affordable plan for financing your procedure.

Abdomen / Liposuction

The doctor will examine your abdominal area and help you make the decision based on his findings and what results you are trying to obtain.
In some cases, the doctor can use the same area and minimize additional scarring.
You may want to consider liposuction. The procedure takes from thirty minutes to several hours depending on the area to be suctioned. Small incisions are made in the skin and the fat is removed by suction.

Breast Surgery

If you are bothered by the feeling that your breasts are too small, augmentation may be the answer for you. Have you had children and the size and firmness changed? Is one of your breasts noticeably smaller than the other? Discuss with the doctor the details. We also offer non-surgical breast enlargement.
Within a day or two after surgery, you will be up and around. Most of the discomfort you feel can be controlled with medication prescribed by your plastic surgeon.
You may want to speak with your doctor about a breast lift (mastopexy).

Nose surgery

Nasal surgery will help your nose to look right for your face, without calling attention to the surgery. Often, the change is quite subtle, but it can make a difference in your appearance and the way you feel about yourself.
The tip of the nose tends to droop with age, often causing breathing difficulties as well as cosmetic concerns. The problem may be corrected through a procedure to shorten and elevate the nasal tip.
Nasal surgery usually is done after a child has reached maturity, generally around age 15 for girls, 16 for boys. Occasionally, surgery may be done earlier–for example, if an internal defect is causing breathing problems. A consultation can help you decide.
Facial balance is the key. Problems with other features can make even a well-shaped nose seem unattractively large. A chin implant may be indicated.

Eyelid surgery

The upper eyelids become prominent with time and may even interfere with the vision. Eyelid surgery removes excess skin through an incision hidden in a natural crease above the eye.
Puffy, baggy lower eyelids are caused by relaxation of the tissues around the eye. Eyelid surgery sometimes removes excess fat and tightens drooping tissues through tiny incisions that are largely hidden within the eyelid.

Browlift surgery

This relatively new technique tightens forehead skin by means of specially designed instruments and a tiny video camera inserted through several tiny incisions in the scalp. A consultation can help you determine if it is the best procedure in your case.
Sagging forehead skin in women may be treated with a coronal browlift. An incision is made behind the hairline, excess skin is removed, and underlying muscles are tightened. In men, the incision is occasionally hidden in natural creases of the mid-forehead lift.
A direct browlift raises the eyebrows and corrects the overhung appearance.

Facelift

No. Modern facelift techniques tighten the underlying muscle and supportive tissue as well as the skin, thus eliminating the stretched or “windblown” look that was sometimes seen in years past.
The excess skin removed in a facelift never returns, so you will always look younger than you otherwise would have. In the future, you may opt for a minor “tuck up” to maintain the correction.
Most people return to a normal routine approximately two weeks after a facelift. Makeup can be applied several days after surgery. You will need to avoid strenuous activity for about six weeks.
You need not wait until the effects of aging become pronounced before addressing the problem. Many women and men today are having facelifts at a younger age to maintain a youthful appearance without a dramatic change in the appearance.

Plastic Surgery Expert Witness

A plastic surgery expert witness is someone who provides expert testimony or an opinion. It is most commonly requested in litigated cases or in cases where there is a disagreement in a case involving an injury which has required – or may require – plastic surgery. Read more about Dr. Zaydon and his role as an expert witness plastic surgeon.

Workers Compensation Plastic Surgeon

If your injury was sustained while performing your duties at work, then treatment for this injury may be covered by your employer’s workers’ compensation insurance. For more information about this, please read our blog post about workers’ compensation and plastic surgery.

A workers compensation plastic surgeon is a plastic surgeon who is able to treat and/or evaluate injuries which have occurred as the result of an accident sustained at work and which requires a plastic surgeon for treatment, surgery, or an expert medical opinion.
