Approximately 8 million people yearly have plastic surgical procedures. This attests to the important physical, emotional, and economic benefits in today’s society.
Today, plastic surgery is generally very acceptable and more affordable than in years past. Feeling good about the way one looks allows for an improved self-esteem and a more confident approach to your future.
With modern technology, more effective results can be achieved with minimal down time. Furthermore, a recent study at the Mayo Clinic has shown that plastic surgery can actually be a factor for increasing one’s life span. Wellness can certainly be enhanced by improving one’s appearance, further prompting an individual to a healthier lifestyle – through proper diet, exercise, and better control of stress situations. There is certainly a mind-body connection that is shown by the marked psychological benefit resulting from improvement of one’s appearance.
Two applicants apply for a position – both have equal job experience and similar experience backgrounds. One presents a pleasant facial appearance and is very well groomed; the other similarly experienced, however, does not present as pleasing an appearance. Who gets the job? Almost invariably the individual who presents a better appearance will obtain the desired position.
In today’s highly competitive business world one must do all in their power to achieve. You can get an educational background, have proper grooming of your hair, and dress in good taste, but in today’s world one can go a step further to enhance their career by presenting their best possible appearance. For example, if your nose is not in proper balance and harmony with your other facial features, this can readily be changed. If your face was showing the effects of gravity, a rhytidectomy would be of benefit in this situation.
We live in a highly sophisticated world in which there are many options available to reshape various parts of our body. Indeed, if anyone has a particular feature that concerns them, be it a problem with your figure, small breasts or very large breasts, a very prominent abdomen, or areas of prominent fat deposits, newer procedures are available to avail one of a correction.
Aging is inevitable for us all. Sunken lines of the face, such as those of the cheeks, forehead, mouth, and eyes are amenable to correction. However, the facial appearance of extended aging triggers the word “retirement” in the view of many employers.
Furthermore, as we age the face tends to lose its triangular contours as jowls develop, with squaring of the features. Folds develop between the nose/cheek area, and fatty tissue tends to drop inferiorly away from the cheek area. This may be compounded by rough brownish skin changes.
We should bear in mind that it is often not the loss of specific skills or professional ability, but the appearance of an aging face, poor posture, or slow gait, that can often trigger in an individual into loss of employment.
Miami Rhytidectomy (correction of the aging face) can be effectively carried out under local or general anesthesia as an outpatient or with a very brief hospital stay, and often, with only five or six days away from work may be adequate.
Miami Blepharoplasty (eyelid correction). Some individuals may, at a relatively early age, develop fullness or dark circles such as “are you tired, did you get enough sleep, or aren’t you feeling well?” This correction is readily performed as an outpatient under local anesthesia with minimal down time.
Miami Rhinoplasty (corrective nasal surgery). Your nose has the most significant impact on your overall facial image. A prominent or misshapen nose will often cause an onlooker to focus on the nose alone, often losing site of attractive eyes, lips, or other features.
In the average rhinoplasty procedure a prominent hump is removed, the nasal bones are narrowed, a bulky nasal tip is refined, and, often slight shortening performed. The exact correction must be tailored specifically to the patient’s existing anatomy together with their unique desire and what will best enhance their overall facial appearance.
Very often after corrective nasal surgery significant personality changes occur. A somewhat shy, quiet individual may become more outgoing and talkative, leading to a better overall lifestyle. Needless to say, this is generally accomplished by a psyche for a brighter future.
Miami Body contouring. Many aspects of our body can be very markedly improved. Small breasts can be enlarged, large pendulous breasts can be minimized, and a prominent abdomen can be reduced. These procedures can all be fine-tuned with fat suction (liposuction) of selective areas. All are aimed at producing a more pleasing body shape. Conversely, deep creases and depressed areas in various parts of the body can be improved by soft tissue fillers. Persons own fat or synthetic material, such as collagen, can be used to pump up sunken areas. In the face it may be used to improve the appearance of the lips or cheek area.
Women can be extremely focused and self-conscious of very small breasts. With today’s technology ad the availability of a variety of safe implants, a significant change of a more pleasing figure can readily be obtained.
Massive pendulous breasts can be very disabling, with pain in the posterior neck, back, and/or shoulder areas. A single corrective procedure under general anesthesia can produce smaller firmer shapelier breasts. This procedure usually requires general anesthesia and can be performed as an outpatient. The patient will usually be far more comfortable and have marked improved posture.
A very prominent abdomen can be extremely troublesome. Correction involves removing a segment of skin and fat, together with tightening of the deep muscles and fascia of the abdominal wall. Further refinement can be obtained by liposuction in selected areas. This procedure requires general anesthesia and can be performed as an outpatient or with brief hospital stay. Down time away from work would be one to two weeks, depending on the extent of the procedure. Often the patient will experience a sense of increased lightness on their feet with improved posture. Although the procedure almost always requires general anesthesia, it can be performed as an outpatient. Down time from work is generally 10 days to two weeks.
Abdominal correction provides a greater degree of physical comfort, improved appearance and improved posture, with a generalized sense of well-being and lightness.
At times a well fitting suit, proper hairstyling, and other grooming will help you land that important job. However occasionally going that extra mile by improving your facial appearance or body contour will complete the process.
A personal, detailed interview with a plastic surgeon will be most helpful in selecting a surgeon with whom you are most comfortable. There should be an in-depth discussion pertaining to realistic goals, as well as the risks involved in any surgical procedure. One should not proceed with selective surgery on a sudden whim or at the time of mental stress in their lives, such as divorce or loss of mate. Sufficient time should be allowed for stabilization of our emotional life so as to have a more rational decision in electing to have a plastic surgical procedure.
The selection of a surgeon to perform plastic surgery we should determine that the surgeon is well-rounded in general surgery, and in addition has had two or more years of additional training in plastic surgery. Consultation with your primary care physician will help determine the experience and credentials of your contemplated plastic surgeon.
The American Board of Medical Specialties is a major source of confirming the credentials of a surgeon. Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and membership in professional societies, such as the American Society of Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, are all helpful in determining the competence of a surgeon.
Without a doubt education and experience are most valuable commodities. However, appearance is a very significant factor in our future personal and professional life.
Our goal at the Plastic Surgery Institute is to provide advanced surgical technology together with a caring professional staff to help assure a high degree of patient satisfaction.
No longer is plastic surgery only the goal of women alone. Each year more and more men are seeking out thin correction, in which one out of five plastic surgical patients are now males.
Your future aspirations will most probably be assisted by seeking a new dimension to your life through plastic surgery. You can now change the way you look to suit your desire.
Many plastic surgical procedures can be significantly enhanced by proper skin treatments: Chemical peels, dermabrasion, dermaplaning, or laser treatments. This allows for removal of the outer damaged skin and replacing it with a smoother skin texture.
This can have a significant impact, not only on the individual themselves, but on society about them.
General wellness is an important factor for successful results in a plastic surgical procedure.
